Scott Metcalfe is a recording engineer, producer and composer based in West Hartford, CT. He has engineered hundreds of recordings in many different styles of music, with a primary focus on remote classical recording. His work has been released internationally on numerous independent labels, broadcast nationally on National Public Radio and the CBS Radio Network, and heard on radio broadcasts throughout Europe. Among the artists he has recorded are Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, Sarah Chang, and Dave Brubeck, and ensembles such as Ear Unit, New York Consort of Viols, The Hartford Symphony, and Connecticut Opera.

Formally trained in music composition, he was awarded a "Meet the Composer" grant in 1997 for composition and sound design of a modern dance piece entitled "The Wanderings of Odysseus"- a collaboration with the Sonia Plumb Dance Company.

Scott has taught in the Music Production and Technology Department at The Hartt School, University of Hartford since 1996 and has been Director of the program since 1999; from 1999 - 2000 he served on the Summerterm faculty of New York University's graduate Tonmeister program; and is a Lecturer at the Yale School of Drama, in the graduate Theatrical Sound Design program. He is a voting member of NARAS (The Recording Academy-Grammy Awards), a writer member of ASCAP, and a professional member of the Audio Engineering Society.
